2022 Summer Instructors!
Kelley Severns - HIYC Summer Sailing Director
Kelley is a US Sailing Level 3 Certified Head Coach. She has worked in the youth sailing industry since 2017, and before that she was a professional engineer project and program manager in the bridge industry. She was previously the Waterfront Coordinator at the St. Croix Yacht Club in the USVI running summer programs with over 300 sailors, and is currently the Executive Director of the Venice Youth Boating Association in Venice FL, running a full youth race and adventure sail school year program. Kelley is also a board member of the Nashville Sailing Foundation.
Jenna has been sailing for six years. She has her US Sailing Level 1 Instructors Cerficiation and has worked the last three summers as a HIYC coach. She has also taught sailing in the US Virgin Islands at St. Croix Yacht Club. Jenna is super excited about the summer and getting everyone out on the water!
Hayden has been sailing for 14 years and has been an HIYC instructor for four summers. She is experienced teaching both youth and adult sailors. She is looking forward to introducing even more kids to the joy of sailing!
This is Jordan's first summer at HIYC. She has worked with young adults in community theater and is excited to work with youth sailors on the water this summer.
Julie Bollinger - Assistant Director / Head Coach
Julie started sailing 15 years ago and became instantly hooked to the sport. She is a certified U.S. Sailing instructor and has spent 7 summers teaching sailing to youth. Besides teaching in Nashville on Old Hickory and Percy Priest lakes, she has also taught on Kentucky Lake, in the Florida Keys, and in Croatia. Julie is also an active sailboat racer who loves to race her Vanguard 15 and on other big boats. When she is not sailing you can find Julie working as an elementary school counselor here in Nashville or hiking on the trails.
Ted has been sailing since he was 9 years old and has a wealth of racing experience. He is currently Race Committee Chair at HIYC, and a US Sailing Certified Race Officer. Ted is looking forward to sharing his wealth of knowledge about Lasers with our summer sailors!
