Sea Scout Ship 851

Sea Scouting is a co-ed branch of the Boy Scouts of America, and is open to young men and women ages 14-21.  Sea Scout Ship 851 was founded in 1993 at the suggestion of then-Commodore, Mark Endicott.  Andy Griswold was named the Skipper of the Ship, which he remains to this day.  The Ship meets each Thursday at HIYC at 6pm, unless otherwise noted.  Regular activities include sailing, racing, overnight trips on the water and rank advancement.  Over the years, the Ship has taken many "high adventure" trips to sail on bigger water than our fair Old Hickory Lake.  Destinations include Charleston, SC, Annapolis, MD, Pensacola, FL and several trips to the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior, WI.  Countless kids (and parents) have been introduced to sailing through Ship 851; and many have been irreversibly "bitten" by the bug and gone on to become members of HIYC.
